MIDGARD

Queen's Advisors

Hally

she/her/hers

Hally is a water genasi swashbuckler/thief rogue, and the Queen Jes' paramount. She’s met the Queen three years after her coronation. She most often disappears for long periods of time after they fight, and is rumoured to be a heretic during these times. She always returns. She met Jes barely three years since she’s been given powers, and they’ve been “on and off” with their relationship. She always comes back eventually, after her short adventures with her pirate crew when she pretends she isn’t avoiding the most powerful woman on the planet.

She helped the Cult's Chosen Ones to gather information on Jes, and ultimately defeat her. After the party left to do their business on another realm, she joined Hero of Midgard and the druids of Soppak. She joined on the quest with Archdruid to seal the Fey portal once and for all. She survived.

Gimrick Runeheart

he/him/his

Gimrick Runeheart is a dwarf mastermind rogue and fey wanderer ranger. He and his late brother Brar Runehart used to organize expeditions deep into the forest (though not as deep to not be too dangerous) with mages to try to find faerie portals, and wandering fey, to steal the pixie dust around them, and to sell it back in the City. While Jes was recruited on one of the expeditions, Brar could not control himself, and he consumed the dust, trapped in the feywild by the laws of magic. He returns sometimes, deep in the forest, where no one can hear him shout for help, before he wanders off again

He’s known book/stories publisher, and used to write about the Queen and his friends, until he decided to (got forced into) writing stories that are less obvious. It is known he will gamble anyone in the City in his favourite inn, the Hierophant.

He is cursed with growth of fey crystals on his back that he gets taken care of regularly when he needs to wear shirt for important occassions, but doesn't bother with them most of the time.

His crossbow is called Brynja.

Arnulf

he/him/his

Arnulf is an elf berserker barbarian, who was cursed with wild magic and has learned to manipulate it, in a way. He was once lost and wandering to find his way home to Alfheim, tried to do everything to get artifacts that were rumoured to travel through Bifrost. He believed magic was the reason he got there, after suffering terrible amnesia, and hated the idea of it being used on him again. He often refuses healing from clerics, except Tero, for whom he’s developed a soft spot. In past, he’s been known to have violent outbursts when people tried to use magic on him before, even if it was healing/beneficial to him. These have been pardoned by the Queen.

His greatsword is called Icebreaker, and it can freeze and instantly shatter enemies.

Tero

he/him/his

Tero is a human cleric of the Goddess and the City, and warlock of Archfey Jes. He used to join Runeheart brothers expeditions to earn a little money for his underground clinic, where he’d help poor people for free. He still does, however with donations and help of the Queen, his friend. He has proved his loyalty in many ways, most notably taking a Boon from the queen, in shape of three runes, and her own powers.

Tero acts as a cleric and healer most of the time, only resulting to using his damaging abilities if he’s alone. His arcane focus combined with holy symbol is a small live Raven, animated by the magic of his patron and the Goddess: if killed, the Raven turns into a taxidermed Raven + shine on his runes. Him and Arnulf share a household, and they say when they are home, they are no longer royal advisors, only husbands, and never discuss work at home.

Tero's runes: brekana – birch, birth; jéra – year, harvest; algiz - protection

Yvr

she/her/hers & they/them/theirs

Yvr is a wood elf druid of Circle of Dreams, and a blood mage. She is of clan Alerion, was sent as a protector of the forest, as a known mage and frankly unwanted bother, they tried to get rid of her this way. She could not stop Jes and her expedition that time, and upon promise that it would be the last one, she joined. Only after that, she found out the promise of last one was on basis of bringing the fey into the city, and agreed with Jes’ plans in the end. She found out about her clan’s betrayal, and decided to stay with her, to help her fulfil her legacy, and has started to believe in the Goddess firmly.

She suggested the idea of Druidic Circle inside the City, and encouraged many forest-dwelling population to join and live plague-free in the City. She could not take the title of Archdruid, on base of being the Queen’s advisor, but she is in charge of it as much as the official Archdruid is.

She and the Queen have perfected a secret way to harness blood magic, and there are rumors Queen spends time without Hally in Yvr’s house.

The Cult's Chosen Ones helped Yvr when she asked, and wiped out the leader of her Clan, as well as most of its members. She then attempted to close a nearby feywild portal, and failed. Fight with faerie creatures occurred.

Other NPCs

Niva

she/her/hers

Niva is a human with goliath ancestry, and a paladin of the crown. She is an acquaintance of the Queen on her way to the City, and has been disgusted by the blood magic rituals she performs. She believes she’s the true Hand of Goddess, and will do anything to defend her, however she refuses to be too friendly or supportive of her personal opinions or actions. She’s the Captain of the City guard, she’s not advisor.

Elena and Leon

she/her/hers & he/him/his

Queen Jes' siblings, twins Elena and Leon are both half-tabaxi like her. Elena is a stone sorcerer, Leon is champion/battlemaster fighter. They’ve lost all respect for their sister, and only fear and obedience remains. They’re looking for a way out, honestly.

Hero of Midgard, Gunbjorg

he/him/his

Known as Hero of Midgard, Gunbjorg, but born as Jenan, he is a wood elf who once belonged to clan Asterion, and he is battlemaster fighter and paladin of the ancients. He was from a native elven clan, and due to his reoccurring meetings with the fey and feywild, he was led to believe the fey would like a host, someone who would step over to feywild to cease their thirst. He came to the City to train, spreading his mission, and inspiring warriors to train with him, to help him reach his goal. He wore a shield blessed by the Goddess, and he believed he would fight to the Fairy Queen, and make a deal with her, for his life. No one could enter the feywild after it, and if they did, they did not return. However, the portals to feywild did not cease, but they were no longer hostile outside. Some believe he still wanders the feywild.

After the Queen was defeated, he joined the druids of Soppak, and took over leading role after Archdruid Thrun died.
