Iris grew up with authoritarian parents, who both gave her very formal and harsh personality, managing to be leader in any group.

Her father always dreamed of joining military, and she found herself wanting to fulfill that dream for herself. She was not, however interested in fighting, the easiest way to become a solider. She liked to train mock fights (no pets, sometimes no weapons, depending on preference, no death) with her fellow soldiers.

She married her husband (Kai) very early, during her time in Military Training at age 20. They had a child, a daughter Nisha, after 2 years together, but would eventually part when Iris' job would take her on months long trips away more and more. He got the custody.

She was week before promotion to Major when she met Nevaeh. Nevaeh asked if she was just trying to find someone to celebrate with, and Iris confessed she'd been looking for a relationship again for a while, and while hoping she could find someone more tolerating of her job, she also did not disclose she is a soldier immediately, and would not if Nev wouldn't have prompted her.

Unbeknownst to Nevaeh, Iris was confronted by Queen Seraphina when she found out what she was doing, and Iris assured her she would take care of her. They'd keep in contact occasionally, and when Nevaeh ran away, they kept in contact way more.
