Jonathan & Mary-Anne Huds
he/him/his, born 2526 & she/her/hers, born 2530
Jonathan is the sole survivor of a 2528 attack at the Huds royalty by androids. The only other survivor, as it turns out, who travelled into the future of few years, was his Father’s (Edward Huds) youngest brother, Henry Huds
Jonathan Huds was always artistically talented, and grew up begging on street and making money by sketching or painting people willing to pay for it (or as it often happened, painting them hoping they'd pay and them not being interested). He got by though
He had a dream of fighting as a profession, but was held back by finding love in Mary-Anne, a medical scientist who focused on studying neurology and was eventually recruited to work on implementation of self unaware Dolls
Dolls are what they call androids - fully robotic humans who wear synthetic skin and have mechanical organs resembling human biology, with red source flowing through them except for brain, where there is a combination of all three types. Sonja Rausseaux was the first experimental child to grow up not knowing she is a doll.
Mary-Anne was from a noble Pride family, much like Jonathan, though he was rather unaware of how noble his own family was. He knew of his abilities as magician, and was aware of his pride ancestry. He only had flashes of memories of his family.
They were vastly different people, Jonathan stoic and serious, pessimistic and negative, while Mary-Anne was curious, truly believing what she's doing will help people and doing it for the sake of helping people, she was realistic but tried to find beautiful and hopeful things in life.
The Huds family and its royal blood were cursed with a genetic disease that manifested in unexplainable rapid aging after age of 50. All the kings and queens of the royal family were plagued with this, and when Jonathan knew he truly belonged to the family, through research and certain contacts, he was aware it did not miss him either. One of the reasons why Mary studied biology and genetics was to find out more about the disease.
They both, however, were obsessed with the idea of studying their souls, seeing as they were the conduits for the magic that flowed through them. At that point, they already had a child. Their first born.
They thought they found a solution, and travelled into the past to a time when Immortal Beings walked the Earth, a time on the cycle that is notoriously hard to pass into, due to the protective magic and protections way stronger magicians than them have set up.
All that is known is that they managed to do it, and found two souls curious and willing enough to perform what they asked. They exchanged souls with two powerful Lust Magicians, and returned back to their time. They believed having different origin of their souls would prevent this disease.
On return, things have shifted. Jonathan started accepting commissions and jobs that would take him away from home for weeks, and Mary was often left alone to take care of their child. During this time, soon after the soul exchange, she would meet a mysterious stranger with the idea of making self unaware Dolls, as mentioned above.
She agreed, and they succeeded. Sonja was born, and given to adoptive parents.
In the meantime, Jonathan was not taking the personality change his new soul has provided him quite well. He would be overcome with one night stands, many easy fucks to satisfy him and, one of them happened to bear a child.
We may never know if he did this intentionally to ensure his next child would have magic or just happened as an accident.
Mary never found out about this, before her death.
Magicians of any ancestry were well known for having rather difficult child-birthing, due to their soul straining. This one was particularly life-draining, seeing as Mary's soul was not well adjusted to the body, living in a many times more fragile body compared to the immortal one, despite all that humans can take. She died at John's childbirth. Their first born was 7 years old.
He set his ambitions towards the goal he had to abandon: and not only for himself, but for his prodigy of a child. This one was powerful, had soul of a Lust magician, and more powerful than any before, and he would make him the greatest fighter - along with himself.
John and Harriet are born 7 years apart, and at first glance, both impossible to both be magicians as the only siblings, and eerily similiar, like twins.
They are, in fact, more than twins - they are both technically Jonathan and Mary's 'first child', based on their souls - with new set of souls, their next child was their first born. They would be the exact same person, would it not be for the difference in their souls.
After John abandoned him, he focused on his own fighting, and took the name Malik - 'king'. In year 2583, Malik was the highest level fighter to be still fighting. He encountered John, and was killed as far as they know.
He survived, of course, and lived in luxury of a dead man's name.
Henry Huds
he/him/his, born 2514
Youngest brother of Edward Huds, previous King of Livetell, he was the sole survivor of the '28 attack of the dolls, or so he thought. He did not survive directly, but as a young magician, he prevented his death by using all of his magic to transport him into the future.
He established himself to be the heir, and there was nothing to disprove him. He ruled Livetell, though mostly just in title, until his death in 2589.
He was quiet, very logical and reflective person. His legacy did not carry his ancestors harsh opinions, and in general did not strike any controversy to be remembered for during his time - other than the fact that he not only never had an heir, he never had a partner at all.
His only companion were his guide dogs, always big breeds who were trained to deal with his trauma and anxiety from his childhood experience. He rarely used his Pride magic, for he was never taught to control it, and did not dare to arrange any teachers without his big family to take care of it like they did for his siblings.
Nathan and Dean
he/him/his/she/her/hers, born 2558 & xe/xem/xyr, born 2559
Nate and Dean were Leo's childhood best friends
Nathan Kinsley is a black boy who was abandoned at the hospital after his birth, and was adopted by white parents, the Kinsleys. He had no other siblings, and his parents would not deny him anything or squash any of his ambitions or plans, and was free to basically do whatever under their support.
He never really knew if this was for fear of him thinking of them as bad parents, and that they wouldn't want to exclude their child they adopted, or if they genuinely believed any child they would've had could have the same privileges.
He'd spent his days either at home, writing, or out with his two friends, getting inspiration or writing alongside of them drawing, not much of a party goer or big social events goer. He would, however, go if Dean talked him into it, but unlike xem, he rarely talked to new people.
In his teenage years, he would try to experiment with his friends (no not that way), and asked them to refer to her with feminine pronouns, and with the name Sian.
She did not enjoy this every day, and while it felt euphoric, some days were still Nathan days, and eventually came out as, or equivalent to, genderfluid.
During many of the "experiments" with his hair, he'd most often ask Dean to shave his sides, and keep a mohawk, until it got long - very long, and she would often bleach it to silver white.
Eventually he established, though it was during high school when they'd meet Leo less and less, as he was more prone to hang out with his girlfriend at the time, that if his hair was free or only in small bun, it was Nathan day, and when she'd braid it or style it more complex it was Sian day.
Dean Wayland of eastern heritage, though through weird dominant genetics, xe has prominent freckles and bright ginger hair. Xe was raised in a small, one bedroom house by a caregiver/housekeeper hired by xyr parents. Xe never knew why they abandoned him, and could never get ahold of them to question their motives, but was cared for nevertheless.
Xe wouldn't even know his parents were both from eastern Land of Old, if it wasn't for xyr caregiver going out of her way to learn small bits of Xuinish, to pass it along to Dean. She said it would be the closest to xyr parents languages, and xe learned a bit, but never found use for it.
Dean is a painter, and always liked to experiment with either watercolor or oil painting, anything messy and easy to make big paintings with. While xe did not get much in terms of allowance, Nate's parents were always willing to chip in to buy art supplies.
Xe would drag Nate and Leo to beautiful places with rich sceneries, to both inspire them, and to have vivid references. Xe never felt like a boy, but never quite like a girl either. Xe tried, and it never felt right to be seen as a girl - except for one part. Xe liked when boys paid more attention to xem.
Xe never really told xyr caregiver, but both to xyr friends, and to everyone at school, xe demanded they use these new pronouns, and would not be referred to as boy. Xe did not quite care for the opinions of people who were closeminded, and was way better at throwing away and ignoring any bad wording - unlike Nate, who would be often discouraged from his own gender expression by this.
Dean worked on xyr craft tirelessly, and during late teenage years, would ask to paint all xyr friends, acquitances, anyone who was willing. Xe enjoyed the rich scenery as much as defining the faces, the bodies, the clothing. Talent was apparent, and it was no surprise that xe managed to get into best art university in Capital city.
After Leo started attending his mechatronics college, and would meet less and less with them, but instead would spend more time with his new friends, Dean and Nathan saw no other continuation of their friendship than romantic - it all came completely naturally. Nathan wrote daily to try to get published in local magazines, or publish small poems, while Dean travelled every day the 30 minute long train to school and back, and still had plenty of time to go out, meet new people, sometimes have fun.
Nathan didn't mind, and preferred for Dean to have sex with other people, as he found no joy in it, and would only do it occasionally to please Dean.
Dean would find steady work painting commissions, and would have xyr art shown in smaller galleries and showcases. Between the two artists, they didn't live quite comfortably, but went by, and found a small house in the outskirts of Wichbel, close enough for Dean to walk to the train station, but far enough to have beautiful nature in their backyard.
In xyr early 20s, Dean could afford bottom surgery, and pursued xyr transition.
Dean and Nathan were starting to fade, and weren't sure whether they were just used to their presence, or if they were content in the relationship. At some point, John Huds sought them out, to seek help with Leo's situation. They believed Nathan's asexuality would make him resistant to the myriad's calls, and John met up with Nate pretty often to try to see what's with Leo.
In the meantime, Dean felt in one way, abandoned, in other, freer to explore other people, to fuck around, and to experience new things. When John feels there is no reason to meet Leo in his new form anymore, and Nate spends spending time home again, he finds Dean is no longer interested, and he moves away.
